Located in the heart of the Coast Mountains in British Columbia lies one of the most remote and certainly most awesome operations in Canada, Bella Coola Heli Sports. Sherpas Cinema’s Dave Mossop and Eric Crosland went on a fourteen day mission to explore this spectacular area.
The idea for this shot came to all of us at once. It was May and we were waiting out a storm in Golden, BC. Packing food and gear, we were getting ready to fly into basecamp on the Freshfields Icefield located on the BC/Alberta border.
The Sherpas recently returned from our primary winter foray to the catskiing lodge next to the lake with an island in it…..uhhhh, Island Lake Catskiing...in Fernie BC.
Like skiing, surfers rely on storms. The east coast of Canada has endured some of the most ruthless storms known to man, and the people there, like the buildings they live in, show the hearty character of a hardened lifestyle.
